Bargains Are a Girl’s Best Friend
by ZIA editor
It's no secret that our hearts beat a little faster while shopping the racks of designer boutiques. Most often the only thing standing between us and bags full of shopping bliss are the hefty price tags on many items. Thankfully, post-holiday bargains are a girl's best friend when it comes to looking great with cash to spare. Great deals came to our rescue on a recent trip to Ann Taylor Loft. Our favorite finds: adorable velvet ballet flats for $9.98 and a soft sweater wrap for $19.99.
Let them men shrug at our love of a good bargain. Call up a girlfriend and make a day of it. Grab lunch, saunter on over to the sales rack, and let the good times begin. | COMMENTS (3)
Stop and Smell the Ylang Ylang
by ZIA editor
We love the relaxing, luxurious aroma of our favorite day spa. Rather than being heavily floral, the fresh scents of ylang ylang, patchouli, jasmine, and eucalyptus embrace the senses with an earthy calm. The desire to capture this sensory experience at home, while lounging in the bath or relaxing with a book, inspired a quest for the spa scent we so enjoy.
We've found a close replication in the new line Pure Aromatherapy by Illuminations. The warmth and comfort of these candles offer a soothing way to unwind after a long day of productivity. Forget the to-do list for a few moments, light a candle, and let life slow down. | COMMENTS (0)
Doing What We Can
by ZIA editor
The "Do What You Can Plan" has made its way into our every day lives. Reading "The Plan" stirred up our own ideas of how to claim the little victories living in the margins of our every day. We found ourselves swapping the term between courses of a party we were throwing, while running an extra mile through the park, or while gathered around discussing the ZIA editorial calendar.
Here's our list of successes:
Rather than doing nothing for fear of missing the mark, guacamole was served in place of hors d'oeuvres.
Jogged, rather than walked, to the destination on the opposite end of the park.
With just five minutes to talk, called an out-of-state friend without hesitation.
Although there was no time for a massage, spent ten minutes sipping coffee in a quiet kitchen before the rush of the day began.
Many thanks to ZIA contributor, Holley Gerth, for inspiring us to do what we can with every moment in the day.

Rediscovering the Kabob
by ZIA editor
If necessity is the soul of ingenuity, then ingenuity took the form of chicken and pineapple kabobs today. With nothing in the fridge but a scrumptious fresh pineapple from a friend just returned from Hawaii and some frozen boneless chicken breast, kabobs became the meal de jour. After defrosting the chicken, we simply chopped the chicken and pineapple into chunks and alternately stuck them on bamboo skewers, tossed the skewers on the George Foreman grill, and voila: tropical kabobs.
Served on a bed of hot rice, the kabobs looked (and tasted) exotic for a meal of only 35 minutes prep time. Whether you're pro at kabobs or never tried them before, take a stab at this striking duo. If you're like us, it's a nice change of pace from the five recipes you've been cycling past your dinner table.

Want of the Week: the New Apple iPhone
by ZIA editor
They've done it again. Apple has created buzz with its new iPhone—an elegant combination of cell phone, email, iPod, and web browser. Our favorite feature is the touch-receptive, large-screen display allowing you to view favorite web sites just as they would appear on your screen at home. With Google Maps just a touch away, check out the class schedule at your gym while standing in line at the grocery store. The phone will not be available until spring, but visit http://www.apple.com to get hooked in the mean time. | COMMENTS (1)
